Our Materials

Twist & Tango’s collections are made from carefully selected fabrics and materials. Our goal is to create designs that will become wardrobe favourites for many years to come.

All of our textiles are handpicked, and our material choices aim to contribute to a more responsible textile industry. We continuously work to improve and develop our materials and maintain a focus on responsible sourcing and material development when creating our collections.

VISCOSE & RAYON

CELLULOSE-BASED FIBERS

Viscose is a type of rayon and is made from a natural material called cellulose. Cellulose fibers are derived from wood sources such as pine, birch, eucalyptus or bamboo. Viscose has a soft hand feel often compared to cotton or silk. Viscose accounts for approximately around 5% of global fiber production. The material offers several benefits, including strength, durability and moisture absorption. However, the production process can involve the use of water, energy and chemicals. Twist & Tango therefore aims to use viscose sourced from suppliers that provide third-party certifications or traceability systems whenever possible.

One example is LENZING™ ECOVERO™, a viscose fiber made from wood sourced from certified or controlled wood sources and produced according to the environmental standards defined by the fiber producer. Since viscose is made from cellulose, it is often described as a regenerated cellulosic fiber derived from natural raw materials.

COTTON & ORGANIC COTTON

NATURAL FIBER

Cotton is a soft and comfortable fiber that grows in a protective boll around the cotton plant. The fiber consists almost entirely of cellulose and is typically spun into yarn or thread to produce soft and breathable textiles. Cotton represents a significant share of global textile fiber production, while a smaller portion of global cotton production is certified organic. Cotton fabrics are known for their breathable structure, strength and absorbency. Conventional cotton cultivation may require significant amounts of water as well as fertilizers and pesticides depending on farming practices. Twist & Tango therefore aims to work with third-party certified organic cotton where possible. Organic cotton is grown according to standards that restrict the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers.

POLYESTER & RECYCLED POLYESTER

DURABLE AND EASY CARE

Polyester is a synthetic fiber made from plastic-based raw materials, typically derived from fossil resources. Polyester can also be produced from recycled materials. One of the advantages of polyester is that its production generally requires less agricultural land and irrigation compared to natural fibers. Polyester is highly durable, long-lasting, resistant to wrinkles and can be woven in many different ways for a wide range of uses. Twist & Tango aims to work with recycled polyester certified by third-party standards in order to increase the share of recycled materials in our products.

TENCEL™ & MODAL

CELLULOSIC FIBERS

TENCEL™ is a fiber developed by Lenzing and is a brand name for lyocell and modal fibers made from wood-based cellulose sourced from certified or controlled wood sources. The fibers are produced using a solvent spinning process where the solvent is largely recovered and reused within the production system. TENCEL™ fibers are known for properties such as softness, color retention and breathability. The fibers are often used in textiles designed to feel comfortable against the skin. Twist & Tango uses TENCEL™ branded fibers from Lenzing in several of our collections.

NYLON

SYNTHETIC PERFORMANCE FIBER

Nylon and spandex are synthetic fibers known for their elasticity and strength. These materials are lightweight, durable and resistant to water and oils. They are often used in combination with other fibers to provide stretch, flexibility and comfort in our garments.

LEATHER

NATURAL MATERIAL

Leather is a natural, durable and flexible material created through the tanning of animal hides and skins. It is a robust material that becomes softer with wear and adapts well to changes in temperature and humidity. Leather should not be machine washed. If necessary, stains can be gently removed using a soft cloth. In all Twist & Tango production, including leather production, we follow the chemical restrictions established under the EU REACH regulation.
