Our Sustainability
Responsibility and Care
At Twist & Tango, we take a considered and long-term approach to responsibility in fashion. Every piece is designed with intention — to be worn, loved and kept over time.
We believe that quality, fit and timeless design are the foundation of more responsible consumption. When garments last longer, they reduce the need for replacement and extend their life beyond the first owner. We recognise that creating new products will always have an environmental impact. Therefore, we continuously work to reduce this impact step by step — by refining our design choices, strengthening supplier partnerships and improving the way we source, produce and transport our collections.
Progress does not happen overnight. It is built through consistent improvement, transparency and collaboration.
Our Approach
Our responsibility strategy is built around a few key areas: design, production, materials, transportation and end of life.
Design for Longevity
From the first sketch to final production, every step is considered with durability, versatility and craftsmanship in mind. We aim to create collections that are timeless— pieces that feel relevant across seasons and that are made to last in both quality and expression.
Twist & Tango nominates and selects fabric suppliers as a standard practice within our supply chain to maintain quality control and ensure that sustainability performance is part of the decision-making process.
Responsible Production
We work closely with few selected long-term manufacturing partners. Through continuous dialogue and regular follow-up, we ensure consistent quality standards and encourage progress in social and environmental responsibility. Twist & Tango has a long-standing practice of monitoring and nominating downstream in our supply chain. What began as a quality-driven approach now also enables us to make responsible and conscious decisions of the different tiers of our supply chain.
Building strong relationships with fewer suppliers allows us to improve traceability, transparency and long-term accountability.
The vast majority of our direct suppliers in all production countries are 3rd part audited in social compliance. Our current production countries include Italy, Portugal, Turkey and China.
Twist & Tango complies with REACH legalisation and maintains a strict approach to chemical management. Together with RISE, we update our Restricted Substances List (RSL) annually to reflect current legislation and best practice.
All suppliers are required to review, sign, and follow the RSL each year, ensuring that all materials, chemicals, and components used in our products comply with the defined limits. This process ensures safer products and supports responsible chemical management throughout our supply chain.
Materials & Fabric Choices
Material selection plays an important role in reducing both our overall environmental footprint and the impact of each individual product. We prioritise fabrics based on their quality, longevity, and environmental performance. As part of our standard practice, Twist & Tango nominates and selects fabric suppliers that meet our requirements for quality, design, and environmental responsibility. We believe that high quality and lower environmental impact go hand in hand.
Our ambition is that by 2030, Twist & Tango will use only lower-impact fabrics in our garments.
Packaging
Packaging materials are carefully selected to protect product quality while also minimizing environmental impact. Twist & Tango prioritizes materials with a lower environmental footprint, and in most cases we nominate and select suppliers used for our packaging materials. Our aim is to always find better packaging material from an environmental perspective.
Transportation
We aim to select transportation options with the lowest possible environmental impact. Shipments from Europe and Turkey are transported by truck. From China, we primarily use sea freight. All shipments are carefully planned, and space optimisation is prioritised to avoid unnecessary transport.
Returns & Conscious Consumption
As an online brand, we continuously work to minimise returns. Twist & Tango aims to provide detailed size information for each garment to support more accurate purchasing decisions and we are gradually working toward making this a consistent standard across our assortment.
We do not offer free returns — a deliberate decision intended to encourage more mindful consumption and reduce additional shipments. We do however offer free exchanges to best accommodate our customers.
Product end of life
We design garments to have a long life. Twist & Tango never discards garments. What once began as an economic consideration has grown into a conscious environmental practice. Pieces that are damaged or in need of repair are handled by our own in-house tailor. Old collections and samples are sold through our archive and outlet stores. When items cannot be sold through our own channels, we donate excess garments to local charity organizations — giving back to our community while ensuring every piece gets the longest possible life. If a Twist & Tango piece is no longer used we encourage customers to pass it on, resell it or donate it. When garments has reached the end of its lifecycle, it should be recycled through local textile recycling systems.
Continues improvement
Responsibility is an ongoing process. We continuously review our choices, strengthen our partnerships and seek improved solutions across our value chain.
Our ambition is to contribute to a fashion industry where quality, longevity and accountability define success. All our suppliers are required to sign and comply with our policy framework, including our Code of Conduct, Animal Welfare Policy, and Environmental Policy. Our policy framework is based on and aligned with international standards and guidelines developed by leading organisations such as International Labour Organization (ILO), Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI), amfori BSCI and world organisation for animal health (WOHA)
